Equestrian Escape
Located in Saratoga Springs, New York, this historic farmhouse renovation is a harmonious blend of preservation, luxury, and modern family living. Originally built in the 18th century, the property is now owned by the same visionary family behind the Bonnie View estate. Lindsell Interiors partnered with the family to bring new life to the home while honoring its architectural roots. Custom millwork, repurposed structural elements, and artisan finishes were used throughout the space to maintain its historical charm. One of the most dramatic features is the transformation of a post-and-beam barn into a vaulted great room and kitchen—serving as the home’s heart and gathering space.

Supporting multi-generational living, the design includes whimsical spaces for grandchildren, luxurious guest quarters, and wellness-focused amenities like a gym outfitted with switchable smart glass. Every room reflects a careful balance of old and new, using materials that speak to both function and beauty. This renovation highlights Lindsell Interiors’ ability to navigate complex historical restorations while delivering sophisticated, livable interiors. As one of the region’s most ambitious farmhouse redesigns, it solidifies our reputation as a leader in thoughtful, timeless, and luxury interior design in upstate New York.

The renovation of this historic Saratoga Springs farmhouse also focused on enhancing the property's equestrian facilities. Upgrades to the stables and riding arenas were made to accommodate the family's thoroughbred horses, ensuring comfort and functionality. The landscape design incorporates riding trails and pastures, seamlessly integrating the equestrian lifestyle with the home's overall aesthetic. Attention to detail in both the interior and exterior spaces reflects the family's dedication to preserving the property's heritage while adapting it for modern use.

the client

This mountain retreat was envisioned as a seasonal escape for a Florida couple seeking the active lifestyle they love. Drawn to The Cliffs at Walnut Cove for its renowned golf, tennis, and outdoor amenities, they imagined a home where they could spend summers surrounded by the beauty of the Blue Ridge Mountains while welcoming their growing family for spontaneous visits and extended stays. Designed with five private guest suites and a spacious home office with multiple workstations, the residence offers the perfect balance of relaxation, connection, and productivity.

the home

After working with two previous designers, the homeowners entrusted Lindsell Interiors with bringing the home together through a cohesive and thoughtful design vision. While many of the architectural selections had already been established, Eva refined and elevated every remaining detail—confirming interior and exterior finishes, selecting paint colors, and curating furnishings that transformed the house into a warm, sophisticated home. Every design decision was made to unify the existing elements while enhancing the home's architectural character and creating spaces that feel both effortless and intentional.

The vision

The vision was to create a light-filled mountain home that embraced its surroundings without leaning into expected rustic or coastal aesthetics. Rather than echoing the clients' Florida residence, the interiors celebrate the warmth of the Blue Ridge landscape through layered natural woods, soft textures, and durable performance fabrics designed for everyday family living. The result is an inviting retreat that feels refined yet approachable—a timeless summer sanctuary where mountain serenity, modern comfort, and meaningful family gatherings come together effortlessly.
