Located in the heart of Saratoga Springs, New York, this modern new build reflects the lifestyle and values of its owners—two physicians entering a new chapter of life. With their children off to college and a deep love of travel, wellness, and Japanese design, the couple envisioned a peaceful sanctuary that would support their active, health-conscious lifestyle while offering timeless elegance. Lindsell Interiors worked closely with the homeowners to deliver custom architectural finishes and thoughtful spatial design. The home features radiant-heated polished concrete floors, rift-cut white oak accents, and custom horizontal-grain walnut millwork throughout. The architecture is clean, quiet, and grounded in natural textures, reflecting a subtle yet luxurious expression of modern living.
The vision for this Saratoga Springs residence was to create a home that could serve as a serene retreat between adventures—whether returning from a ski trip out West or a wellness retreat abroad. Floating staircases, custom cabinetry in the laundry and baths, and layered lighting elevate the interiors while maintaining a grounded, minimalist aesthetic. As a result, this residence is more than just a place to live—it’s a space to rest, reflect, and recharge. It stands as a compelling example of contemporary luxury interior design for clients who value both beauty and balance.

This new build in Saratoga Springs was the realization of a dream for two physicians who had long saved and planned for their perfect home. As recent empty nesters with a passion for health, wellness, and adventure, they envisioned a serene retreat that reflected their active lifestyle and love for Japanese culture. With a penchant for skiing, cycling, and travel, the couple sought a space that felt like a true sanctuary to return to after their many adventures.

This thoughtfully designed home blends clean, modern lines with warm, natural materials to create a welcoming yet striking environment. Featuring custom walnut millwork, rift-cut white oak details, and polished concrete floors with radiant heating, the home embodies modern warmth. The floating and suspended staircases serve as architectural focal points, adding drama and sophistication to the minimalist design.
The vision
Inspired by Japanese culture, the vision for this downtown domicile was to create a home that was both contemporary and inviting in all four seasons. Horizontal grain-matched walnut cabinetry in the bathrooms and laundry room, along with custom designed hand-crafted walnut built-ins, emphasize the home’s connection to natural materials. The result is a tranquil, sophisticated retreat that seamlessly blends modern design with the welcoming warmth of a true family home.
